You Are Here Between Us (2008) Poster and Web Mapping Project
In collaboration with Will Kwan and Alan McConchie

You Are Here Between Us is a project in two parts. The first project, a poster, developed as a collaboration between Will Kwan and Kristina Lee Podesva for the exhibition Between Us: A Toronto/Vancouver Exchange, curated by Johan Lundh and Alissa Firth-Eagland for YYZ (Toronto) and Western Front (Vancouver). In response to the question of how to connect Toronto and Vancouver, the artists considered various relational routes (defined by geographical points and social ties) between persons living in different places. The basic premise being that spatial and social relationships extend not only nationally but in many other directions as well in a networked space in which multiple flows of communication and diasporas, among other phenomena, parallel and intersect. Will Kwan's project appears on the other side of the poster as a tableau of plans for a fictional journey he might take the long way around the globe.

The second part, a web work developed in collaboration with Alan McConchie, provided information and form to the poster project by building a collaborative map of correspondences between people and places. The website invites and displays links made by visitors who make connections between spaces through a subjective and affective cartography.
